Flashlight Friday

Now that it is getting darker earlier
Flashlight Friday has be reinstated!

Wahoo!
Once they are ready for bed
we turn off every light/tv/monitor
play some flashlight games
read bedtime stories by flashlight
and let the kids read in bed...
you guessed it,
with their flashlights!

They love it
and don't even realize
we snuck in some
extra literacy!

Feel free to try it!

Flashlight Friday

Another successful flashlight friday!
This week we had to borrow some batteries from Three's baby swing....those flashlights are really getting a workout I guess!

Apparently sunglasses made tonight's flashlight friday extra fun!

Flashlight Friday

Another flashlight friday has come and gone again. This one was super exciting for mom! When I asked One to go pick out a book, he asked if he could read it in bed! So my kids ended up reading in bed by flashlight and totally fell asleep early! Love it!

My crafty life has been a bummer recently. DaddyMan has had to work late recently to meet a deadline which meant my one night out with the girls....I didn't get to go. It's only once a month. I love it. But we are a one-income family and that job has to be more important than my night out. Throw in the fact that Three has decided the swing is not all that, that he must be held in order to sleep, and that it would be really fun to wake up wide awake at 10pm and any opportunity I had of crafting has gone out the window!

Then DaddyMan finally joined the facebook craze. Turns out some of his high school buddies are playing in town tonight. Of course he has to go! I mean, if some of my old friends were in town, I would want to be there in a heartbeat. I do not begrudge this night out for him. So it's another night of no crafts for me but I am anticipating a few hours of free time tomorrow where I can go crazy!

Here's the ruffle hat I'd love to finish:

Check out the high-class stitch marker (top right) and the funky folded wire holding a dropped stitch (bottom left) that I'm hoping I'll remember how to work back up. Classy, huh?

I also plan on doing this craft from Little Bit Funky. I have all of the materials....just need to do it!

Might also make one of these.

So much to do! Can't wait! Check back tomorrow to see if I actually got any of it done!

Flashlight Friday

My kids love flashlights. Always. They have received several as gifts over the years because they love them so much....and also as our attempt to keep them away from ours. :o) After school the other day, One got out his flashlight from Christmas and turned off some lights and closed the curtains and was playing with the light. Now, it was broad daylight so it wasn't overly fantastic but he didn't know that. However, it got me thinking about how we could really make it work and -voila!- Flashlight Friday!

The kids and DaddyMan made sure everything was put away before we started dinner, and then afterwards, we turned off all the lights, closed all the curtains, and the fun started!

Here are the kids running down the hall:

Here's One:

And here's poor Two, who couldn't stand still if her life depended on it:
Of course there was some hide-and-seek going on and an impromptu scavenger hunt (followed by putting the item away! I'm patting myself on the back for that one!). Even some flashlight tag on the wall. They had so much fun. We could also play games by flashlight or read stories by flashlight. The possibilities are endless! We were newbies tonight so we just let them run around for 10 min or so and then turned all the lights back on and got ready for bed but oh! This could get so fun! I'm hoping this one will stick around for awhile!
